Our Journey To See History Over The Last Few Months

No automatic alt text available.

It has been awhile since I have posted anything but that is going to change. I had debated on shutting this blog down since I hadn't kept up with it lately and just didn't think it was of interest to anyone but me. Then I listened to rootstech livestream and they talked about the importance of  a journal and leaving the written word for our family to have, so I decided if for no other reason I will try to keep this blog going. It will be a journal of our trips, my thoughts and what is going on. I will still write a few devotions also along the way and maybe even share some of my poems from my booklet I have copyrighted and sent to the Library of Congress. We will see, but I sure would like to know if anyone is following along with me here on this blog. Just leave a comment or something so I know you are there.

My husband Mike and I have been doing what I like to call Journey's To See History and Find Ancestors. We have been traveling on Historic RT 66 in Missouri, Kansas and a small part of Oklahoma. Traveling the back roads and finding ghost towns along are journey has been interesting. We have found places we never new existed and yet wish we had found them sooner. It has been so much fun to go along to see things in the surrounding area going for a day or two. We have visited places our ancestors lived as well as did cemetery sleuthing of their final resting places. We have taken pictures of old buildings, some in places that our ancestors lived and would have seen when they were live, as well as courthouses, parks and the road we are traveling on. It has been a wonderful journey but it isn't done yet. We try to at least once a month if not once a week go on our journey to see history or find ancestors and their stomping grounds. I hope you enjoy traveling with us through pictures and comments and if you have any suggestions of places to see leave a comment.

I am sharing some of our earlier trips in pictures here today and will try to once a week share what we have been seeing.

Today is some of our first journeys when we went on. In July 2016 we went to Baxter Springs KS and drove the RT 66 through there. We went to the museum also which if you ever get a chance to do it is a wonderful museum, probably one of the best little museums I have been too.

We drove RT 66 from Baxter Springs KS to Miami OK.

God"s Light and Peace All The Time And My Poem

Another week is half over and things are going pretty good. We had a bit of a scare last week and my daughter had to have some tests done. With lots of prayer we got through it all.  God does answer prayer we got the report back and it was normal so I want to say thank you God. When we pray we sometimes forget the next step of thanking God for his answering our prayers. I share this because not only did God answer our prayer about the tests but God also gave me a peace that helped me and her get through the tests and waiting. Like it says in this verse
 John 14:27 KJV

The one thing we know that God is always in control and that we can trust Him no matter what. He holds our hand and guides us through if we turn to him.

Just like the lighthouse pictured here God is our light to guide us in good times and the storms of life. His light always shines bright and as long as we keep our eyes on the light we will not stray or get lost. I see the lighthouse and I remember that though storms in life come along God is with us lighting our way all we have to do is rely on Him. A verse I like says to not be afraid or discouraged in fact it is a command and one I think of when storms come my way.
Joshua 1:9  NIV "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Here is a poem I wrote awhile back I will share again with you. I hope it will lift you up

My Life’s Light

I will trust you where ever you lead me
I will trust you in both the calm and stormy seas
I will follow the path you set before me
I will lean on your love and hope you give me freely
For you are the light that guides my path along my way
You are my guide through each and every day
Like the captain on the sea I will look to the light
Always keeping that beam in my sight.
For you my Lord, are my light
On whom I will keep my sight

God is our Light and here is my verse to memorize this week

John 8:12 KJV  "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Happy Dance Internet Again!

Wednesday they installed, after over two year wait, our google fiber and I love it. I am back on my computer not my phone so I will be able to blog again. I have decided to try and have a post at least once a week and on good weeks maybe more. I am so excited to be back up and able to do it again that I found myself giddy all the rest of the week and not wanting to get off the computer. So look for more now from me and hope you all are having a good weekend.
To start I want to share what we did yesterday. We took our little Grandson to Home Depot to build a butterfly house. If you have kids or Grand kids you should try this. It costs nothing and they get to help you or you help them build things. It is good fun and quality time spent with your kids. Here are a couple of pictures of the fun we had.

Look at that grin when he was finished. Priceless.

6 Years of Walking Praise God

Then

NOW

Sept 28, 2015 marks 6 years of being out of my wheelchair and walking. I praise God everyday for what he has done for me. I am very thankful and never what to take it for granite.

I was blessed that God trusted me enough to use me in the way He did when I was in the wheelchair and blessed me more when He told me to walk and has given me back my ability to walk and do what I can for Him.

My prayer is that God will continue to use me and that I can be the vessel His light can shine through.

Thank you God for blessing me and allowing me to walk.

I have included a portion of the post I wrote after I started walking.

Sept 28, 2009 Mike and I went to Shawnee Mission Park to go on one of our walk and rolls. Mike was at the back of the van getting my wheel chair out and once again the Holy Spirit prompted me and said one word which was walk and I walked down to the back of the van and said to Mike I'm going to walk and took off. I walked only about 100 yards that day but for someone in a wheelchair for all those years that was a big step. I walked by myself down the path and back up the hill to the street that the van was parked on. When I reached the top of the hill I raised my hands, like Sylvester Stallone did in Rocky, and shouted yes, yes, yes thank you Lord. I then walked back to the van. This is a picture of that first walk.
I had never in all those years of being sick and in the wheelchair asked God to heal me or let me walk again so I was surprised when I was prompted to walk. If I had not listened to that prompting though and then followed that one word WALK I would of missed out on a healing and blessing. It would have been easy for me to ignore that prompting or think that it couldn't be done because I can't walk I am in a wheelchair, but I followed the prompt and God blessed me for my obedience. My muscles in my legs were there at that moment I took my first step which is all God after 12 years of my neuromuscular disease and my wheelchair. The next walk a couple of days later was for 1/4 of a mile, then the next a mile and soon I was able to go hiking off the paved trail for over a mile.
Each day brings new firsts and I continue to Walk with God both spiritually and physically.

The last thought here is this, I am not perfect and have not always followed the Holy Spirits prompting. It is all part of growing in my walk with Christ. The one thing I do know in order to recognize the prompts you have to have a personal relationship with God so that you know and recognize his voice or prompting when it comes.
